The call to the Venerini Sisters was first heard in 1909 when the Sisters crossed the Atlantic Ocean to work with the Italian immigrants in the USA. In this “new world” they reached out to children and adults in school, catechetical centers and parish organizations. In many ways they provided Christian teachings, as well as moral and material support for families. Today aware of new types of ministries the Sisters endeavor to give witness to the Gospel message to those whose lives they touch as they reach out and respond to the needs of others. Venerini Sisters live a life of service in the fullest sense of the word in harmony with the Church, responding to its call and seeking forms of apostolic service in response to present needs of the Church in teaching, catechesis, pastoral ministry, health care, social services, youth ministry, and foreign missions.
